When i first got my truck i went with the "white light/chrome" look, but now im sick of it and want to go stealthy (exactly like my avatar!!). Here is my truck now (it now has BFG ATs):
I started the "makeover" with color matched door handles, black/color matched emblems and lightly smoked stock tails. I am planning to color match the front/rear chrome bumpers, black wheels, black billet grill.
My questions were for the wheels. I would like to save as much money as possible and still get black wheels. Whats the best option:
Powdercoat-i got quoted $50 a wheel for media blasting and color/costly
DIY paint-unsure of how they will turn out/ ive never painted over chrome/cheap
Trade-i could trade wheels with someone with black ones (keep same tires)
I would aslo like any tips for painting over the chrome bumpers and any tips to get the stealthy look i want. Thankyou in advance!!

Reason: mispelling
I think it looks good the way it is maybe invest in some smoked headlights...as for a cheap fix though for now you could use a product called VHT it is for "darkening" your lights the more coats the darker but get someone that knows how to prep and spray paint extremely well as any imperfection will show. Looks great on my tailights.
First off thanks for the replies
Those steps do look absolutely HORRIBLE and they are coming off STAT!
I already have tinted tails and color matched emblems. I really should update the pics but my truck in in the shop right now. Here are the tail lights and emblems i have done:
As you can see the other emblem is black. I am experimenting wether i like the chrome lettering of if black will look better.
Roverjoe-I have an 05 conversion grill but the chrome started wrinkling and the Ford emblems has bubbles all throughout it. Its a Ford OEM part but its just isnt looking good so i took it off.
I think I would keep the wheels the way they are. I would NOT try to DIY paint them. It woould not turn out well.
As far as the bumpes are concerned I would get that done professionally as well. I would think you'd have to sandblast the chrome off in order to paint them.
It would look sweet once done however.
Did you paint them yourself? If so how you get you so smooth granted I did mine on a rainy ish day in a garage and they still turned out great but yours are great almost look factory, I did them a little darker though.
After I got the tint I wanted I did about 5 coats of clear. After 24 hrs of curing I wet sanded with 600,1000 and 2000 followed by rubbing compound, polishing compound, and a wax. It took some time but I'm picky so they had to be perfect haha
