I'd like to get some general thoughts on what additives, if any, y'all are using in your trucks. I've been making small batches of bio with very gently used oil, since they came out with the ultra low sulfer fuel, and using that as a lubrication additive. I just don't have time to mess with it anymore and am looking at having some bought stuff on hand when I run low on the bio.
I haven't found any additive that proves it will do something other than change the combustion noise. I extrapolated from an article written by Bosch that shows a maybe 10% life loss http://www.arb.ca.gov/fuels/gasoline...22003bosch.pdf between what they want and what is available. Is it worth the money and time and hassle? I think not. If the rebuild cost on injectors is say $2000, 10% of that is $200. That means it costs you $200 more to run regular diesel. Alternatively, ASSUMING that their stuff works as said, you save $200. However, you probably will spend more than $200 over the time the injectors wear out. IOW, to save $200, you spend more than $200. Is it worth it? I think not unless you want to go for the mileage record.
Edit: I have yet to find any additive that proves it will do something COST EFFECTIVE.
