what has everyone experience with bio diesel - i been running in my 03 f250 with the 5 speed auto tranny- ran good for about 3 months - now it seems either tranny is going bad (up in 5th gear - jerks no matter what speed or i have injectors going bad ), really do not hear engine missing
so i put a full tank of petro diesel to see if any diff - have seen some improvement
but something i read was that bio diesel builds a gel in the injectors ,
now i am all for a renewable energy and a part time farmer - family , but a engineer by trade , i run the cetane additives in fuel
we run bio in farm tractors- less smoke and pulls just as well with petro diesel
My truck has been running on Bio(B11) most of its life. Thats pretty much all we have here in IL(weather people know it or not) I've got 80k on my truck now. I always use cetane boost and change fuel filters at 10k. I've had no issues thus far. Even with very cold weather. What exactly is your truck doing? Have you checked codes? EGR?
At least 6mo per yr I run b99 - no problems. Anything close to B100 is not going to like the cold - even FL cold - I keep a jar outside to see what's happening in the tank. Morning of 55F outside and it might be solid It definitely cleans the inside of your tank out and when you first use it, it can really plug some filters - the gunk is actually from the petrodiesel, not the bio. You should also increase your oil change interval to maybe 4-5K b/c the biodiesel can increase the oil viscosity (it gets in the crankcase by blowby the piston rings).

I just buy it retail - we have a local oil distributor that sells it to the public. They use it in all of their commercial vehicles and the school system runs B20 in their buses, so it turns over quick. They go through about 60K gals a week. It is a high quality product, so I can't justify the time and energy to make my own.
