Pulled some codes

I have a 99' B2500, been prob. one of the best vehicles I've owned. It's not that it's running terrible, the check engine light has been on, I bought a code reader for my wife's car, so I tried the truck, I do notice it has a rough idle sometimes mainly when you come to a stop and it's recovering. But it does have 230K + miles on it. These are the codes:
P0171- Lean bank 2
P0402- EGR flow excessive
P1401-Dpf sensor circuit high voltage detected
So is that telling me that the sensor's bad? or the valve? Will the cause the lean issue or is that something different all together. How tough are they to get out? Thanks in advance.

The DPFE sensor is most often at fault.

The EGR valve doesn't usually cause problems unless it's rusted out, or the engine is burning oil & has carboned up the EGR valve & it's feedback port to the DPFE sensor.

With the mileage on this ride, vacuum lines belong on your suspect list, especially ones to the EGR system.

Maybe the PCV valve & it's rubber hoses & connections too, if it's never been replaced.

Thanks, I doubt that it's rusted, it doesn't really burn oil, but will definitely check out the vac. lines too. Would that cause the lean code? Alot of miles, pretty much all hwy miles. She doesn't owe me a thing.

OK, good feedback, so the engine isn't burning oil & most of the mileage is highway, so the engine & EGR valve should be clean.

Leaking vacuum lines, a stuck open PCV vlave, leaking intake gaskets, lazy O2 sensors, low fuel pressure, ect, can cause lean codes.

Seeing as how your codes have to do with too much EGR feedback, that too can cause a lean air/fuel mixture, so right now I'd concentrate on trouble shooting the EGR system, especially the DPFE sensor & the VSV that the computer uses to supply the control vacuum to operate the EGR valve itself.

If the computer is getting corrupted feedback from the DPFE sensor, it could be commanding the VSV to cause the EGR valve to stay open too long & give the engine too much EGR feedback.

If the VSV diaphragm is leaking, it could be leaking vacuum & causing to much EGR feeback also.

There are tests you can do for all this in the "Tech Info" thread atop this forum.

Let us know how it goes.

Maybe I shouldn't have spoken how great of a truck it is, she just blew up on the way home, I kinda notice it running rough fighting holiday traffic, looked down no oil pressure, pulled on a side road, she shutoff. It's done. Towed to a friends farms, I'll bring it home on a trailer tomm. Ever swap out a 2.5? I've got a garage, plenty of tools, a picker and FTE.
