The dealer IS having multiple problems with several vehicles relating to the heater core. They are under obligation to replace them all. They told me last week that they are losing their shorts over all these cores and are working to rectify the situation. There is talk of a class action suit as well, but not sure if that will be a reality or not.
Some of you may remember this post from the begining of the month: Blown 5th heater core
Well that was done on February 6th.
Guess what?!?
Went back in for number 6 this morning! Number five managed to make it about 3 weeks!!
Called GM corporate and raised hell with them. The dealer was contacted and has gone on record saying that the system has been checked over and above procedure and no known cause is found. They also told the GM rep that they have several vehicles with this same problem!! Gotta love them Chuvies!!
I am so totally fed up that I cannot even begin to know what to do next.
I called several other dealers and they all give the same story, that they are experiencing some defective cores and they are trying to rectify the situation.
Only saving grace is that it costs us nothing to change it, but it is a headache. The warranting dealer is 50 miles away!
Anyway, just wanted to rant about it. Thanks for listening.
Any takers on the betting pool for how long number six will last. I am betting on a month or less.
I've been following this horror story! Unbelieveable. I can only commiserate with you. We can go to the moon.........
Any chance of getting them to sub for an earlier model or style? There must be some good ole' Ford brand that would work - at least temporarily. If they replace it with a Ford one and you blow that one, you should contact Kreskin (the mentalist spoon bender) and see if he needs a new partner!
I'll guess 4 weeks, just long enough to give you hope!
Well.............
We have no real winners in the bet for how long the core will last.
It went in today for another one. Lasted a whole week and a half!!
The dealer is shocked. CM corporate is shocked. I am pissed!!
Cannot believe that they are not getting this figured out, and since it is warranty work, I cannot send it anywhere else unless I wanna pay for the unit myself. I am getting close to telling them to shove it and paying the bills myself.
Like a Rock they say?? Meaning it sinks like a boat anchor?

I wouldn't do that unless you have good core source available as mil1on posted. I know it's a pain but your chevy dealer has stood by you. That says a lot.

I agree, that is the only reason we take it back. It has not cost us a dime, just "pain and suffering". When her truck is down, then she uses my Bronco, and that is pain and suffering for me!
I talked to the dealer this morning and they have completely removed the core assembly and radiator assembly and are rechecking everything from square one again. It usually is in and out in a day, but they will be keeping it until Saturday to make sure they have all their "T's" crossed.
