Noisy Fuel Pump

I just noticed today that my fuel pump is making am awful sound! Is this a sign that it is going to die? Can I just get a pump or do I have to rplace the entire HCFM?

Clean it first and see if that fixes it... new filters... test pressure...

If it still persists...

Make sure you got the HFCM cap tight, could be sucking air.

I would test pressure, if it is good, then you got time --- and partsguyed does parts cheap and you can wait.

Are you planning on ever doing fuel system upgrades? If so you might as well upgrade the pump now so its done.

If you don't do off road, and don't need the ground clearance, the Horizontal Fuel Conditioning module,

Parker P3 --- or the larger ones --- is a far better unit.

Easier to change filters, easier to drain water, and just better.

Or just swap one off a E-350.. same idea.

Just bought a 2006 F-250 with the 6.0 and I'm hearing what sounds like a relay chattering under the hood when I turn the ignition to on. I can hear the fuel pump running, but the loudest noise is seems to be in the engine compartment. I've just changed all fuel filters with all Ford filters. Any idea if I'm on the right track & if so what it takes to fix it. The truck only has 21,000 miles on it.

Are you sure you aren't just hearing the injectors cycling? They buzz for 5-10 seconds when you first key on.

Yes, I am hearing the injectors cycling, but since I am new to the normal sounds of the 6.0 I didn't know that they did that. However, there are actually two other noises that occur during the key on period. The first is the fuel pump on the frame rail under the truck. It will continue to run for an additional 15 to 16 seconds after the injectors cycle if I don't crank the engine. The other noise comes from the small pump on the passenger side fender well that I think is possibly a vacuum pump. On an initial key on cycle it will run longer than the injector cycle, but not as long as the fuel pump. At other times it doesn't come on at all or only briefly. Does all of this sound normal?
