Updating Sync on truck.

Updating Sync on truck.
I just bought the truck 3 weeks ago and was wondering if there is any reason I should try updating Sync? When it comes to electronics I usually stick with the if it is working leave it alone.

i have a 2009 f150, not sure of what sync version. i routinely get fliers in the mail about sync teaming up with best buy and some phone deal. i presented said flier to a service advisor one time and asked if there were sync updates. he looked at me with a blank face and said he didn't know what i was talking about. he told me to ask a service tech, and they were all busy. surely there are updates, like reflashing the computers on the trucks

I just logged in to syncmyride and it says in order to check the version of sync it now has to be done at the dealer and there is a Request for Sync Upgrade form to print out and take to the dealer. I know I already did one update myself within the last year and it didn't require a form or going to the dealer. They must have changed things.

If you've done an update within the last year, you must have v2.1 (which is the latest). You can check from either the phone or menu screens (if you have Nav).
You're right - the form and dealer trip is new. But it doesn't do it for mine. Wonder why? Wonder what's different?

"v2.1" the latest? I bought my Truck feb 28th and I have Sync 3.0 with the navagation/GPS, weather, etc. and I was told I have the most recient update. They told me only trucks built after
January 15th 2010 have this. Is "v2.1" newer then that? I just got an update stating I can now get movies, horoscope, and some other stuff to go along with the news, and sports.
Do we have to pay for a Sync update?

2.1 is the latest for the 2009 MY.
I assume the "movies, horoscope, and some other stuff to go along with the news, and sports" is either through TDI or Sirius Travel Link. Right?
Some updates are free (if it can be done at home). My update from v2.0 to 2.1 was done via the USB.
It's up to the dealer to decide if he wants to charge for updates, unless the updates are part of a TSB.

no, the news, weather and turn by turn GPS/navagation are all part of the Sync 3.0 and the latest updates (?) included horoscope, movie times and places, etc. and are not part of the in dash type touch screen navagation. It just Sync and Sync only.

i try to go to syncmyride and register but it says my VIN and email is already registered, but when i go to send the password to my email it wont send. i think im going to give the sync customer service a call today and see if i can get it figured out. i have sync 2.0 i think. truck was bought march of last year.
