OK. We've had a 2000 Ford Excursion for about 7 years. Great truck. Won't sell it, it's just too good of an SUV. However, it's beginning to show its age a bit and we are making some upgrades and will be doing some interior restoration. Specifically, new molded carpet and leather seats.
For now, however, we wanted to make some functional and appearance upgrades. We are going with a new grill, projector headlights with an low beam HID upgrade and new tail lights.
While we are at it, we wanted to go with the factory fog options. However, we found that the 2000 did not have the option. However I see various folks have installed some.
My question is:
Can I go with lights like these?
I don't care about wiring. I can deal with that. What I need to know is if these will physically mount on a 2000 Ford Excursion - Limited. In other words, do I have a place to mount these without modifiying the bumper. It's too hard to tell by just looking at the lights. I have no reference.
Does anybody have a photo of how the fogs mount in any Excursion. At least I can see it and compare it to my bumper.
Thanks in advance for the help!
There was actually a factory fog option for 2000 or 2001 Super Duties. I have a pair installed on my 2000 Ex. They are round lights made by Hella rather than the square ones that you typically see. They came with brackets and a wire harness that bolted right in. They go in the same location as the square ones (i.e. on either side of the license plate frame). They're hard to come by, but maybe you can find a set on ebay or craigs list.

i have the same one's round Hella's with the factory bracket'switch and harness the lights are JUNK i even put in higher wattage bulbs do'nt waste your money if i could do it again and i will it would be the square lights that fit a 2001-2004 excursion those are 59.95 each and i believe that you can change the bulb type and wattage one those just take on to the auto parts store
I don't mind going with the square units. The issue I have is whether or not the stock bumper on a 2000 Excursion will take them. Will the brackets they use work?
This was the original point of the post.
I don't need HID in there b/c I am going HID in the main lights. The kit is already on its way and they are going into a new headlight with projector lenses.
I found a great decent pair of factory fogs from a 02 at the swap meet ($10). Installed them in the 00 factory bumper and it had the mounting bolt holes already there.
The Piaa are well worth it... the glass is very thick and endure road abuse. I went through 2 pairs of fogs before these, the other fogs cracked from road abuse. The housing is very durable.
I wish I would've seen this earlier this morning. I just got done putting HID's in my fogs. The factory fog lights bolt to flange on the back of the bumper. There are two bolts on the top of the bracket, and 1 on the bottom. They screw into those nuts that are mounted to a clip, I can't remember what they're called for nothin now.
Here's a pic I took from underneath the bumper. I hope you can make heads or tails out of it ..
The easiest way to check if the holes are there is to pull the grill. There are some screws on the top edge under the hood. Then look under the lower edge of the grill for four black clips. Use a skinny flathead screwdriver the press the clip's edge up, and slightly pull it out of it's hole. When they're all loose, the grill comes right off. It takes 5 minutes. Once it's out, you can inspect the back of the upper lip of the bumper for the fog light bracket holes. Hope that helps..
FWIW: I like my new HID's. I can't wait to see them tonight..
