I don't know where you got your prices for sure but I just bought a complete deep well set( granted they were metric ) for 30 dollars 1/2"drive on sale. I saw singles around that size from 6-9 bucks each so I guess your 4 is still cheaper.
I looked at a single for doing this a long time ago from craftsman at sears, just curiosity.
Yea. Way cheaper every place else, and higher quality. I don't care for their tool quality anymore. =(
Anytime you buy in a set though, they are always far far cheaper.
I have no issues with their socket and wrench quality. All I use are craftsman sockets and wrenches and am happy. Anything ever breaks or even rounds out they replace it no questions. Now their cordless tools and such that's a different story......................
Their wrenches are good, but I'm dissapointed in sockets and ratchets with them now.
My old socket sets are 5 times the quality of my newer stuff.
The ratchets are about cheap as they come too.
I've broke a few of the sockets, they replaced those no problem, but when I had a ratchet mess up, they tried every excuse they could to not replace it.
You really have to look at the craftsman stuff now as well, not everything has lifetime warranty like it used too.
Just buy Kobalt. Same company makes it as makes craftsman, and the stuff is higher quality. =)
Rick,
BTW did you understand the pic I edited from that link about the position of the pipe wrench in the other thread?, are you agree now?.
to me its simple. No matter what a blown up version of the pic shows,at first glance ,it looks like the wrench is on the threads .The reason I put the note in my response is, more than 1 person has used the pics to ruin their IPR . If I link them to the site, they won't ruin theirs ..

Thats sound reasonable for me; its better to prevent than to regret !!. Its like: measure twice, cut one !!!.

With that clarification and the pics of Chris, I have to measure my socket to see if its long enough. thanks to both of you.
I had to hollow out the inside so the end of the IPR would fit over it. And then, I coudln't quite fit the wrench in all the way when I had it on the IPR.
I got it all cleaned up though. Gotta get some thread locker to complete the cleaning and stuff before I can re install it.
I don't remember what brand mine was, but I had to bore out the hole as well. I just used a drill press. Then I decided to shorten the socket with a chop saw.
With the tool I have now, its easy to get it on the ipr. The IPR sticks out the end of the tool, this allows for extra room when using it. It took me nearly three hours of improvising, but It works like a charm now. I should get some pictures up.
