Engine Block Woes

Engine Block Woes
I have a 351W engine that spun the mains (Rods also). The rear main cap is damaged from the spun bearing, but I can't see any damage to the block. Is it possible the block is still OK? Anyone with this experience please reply.

Well, you have to really have the diameter checked with a micrometer to know if it has been distorted. It is *possible* that the block is still OK, and the cap took all the damage, but if you are going to spend money to put it back together, it would be worth the few bucks to have the block checked and or line bored. Machine shops all across the country are waiting with baited breath for you to haul that hunk of iron into their shop...

Thanx 4 the input....it is just odd to me that the cap can be damaged so badly and the block appear ok. My son bought the truck with this engine, so the cause is unknown. A side note though- some of the bearings had got so hot they had melted and dripped into the pan.
