odometer reading on 2003 Expedition

I am looking at getting myself into an Expedition. I have found some that I like but am concerned about the mileage. One 2003 has 130,000 miles on it. Is this getting up there or is there still lots of life left in it? The ad says regular maintenance and never denied an oil change. Was looking for something under 105,000 miles.
I did a search for a thread that probably already exists but could not see it. What do your Expeditions have on the clock?

Thanks,

Matthew

It is a bit of work but you could remove the oil fill cap from the valve cover and look inside. If the engine is nasty run, don't walk away from it, Otherwise, you pays your money and you takes your chances. Only believe half of what you see and none of what you're told, especially when buying a car or truck.

Thanks for getting back to me on the question I asked. After much searching back through the history pages, I finally found the thread I imagined would be there. There seems to be plenty of Expeditions running about with 130000+ miles on them and going strong.
I agree with MotoMel about pays the money and takes the chances, I was just trying to see whether it was even worth throwing my money on the table.

Thanks,
Matthew

Bought my '03 new, the '04 from my brother who is the only person i know that is more meticulous than me. The '03 has been pretty much flawless, except for rear clutch packs replaced under warranty twice and a p/s head replacement that I had to pay a portion of. The '04 while lower mileage seems to have more annoyance things go wrong. Blend door actuator in the back, seat heater blower, gear shift indicator, bubbled paint on the tailgate. All in all the best vehicles I've owned. The '03 has always had regular oil and tranny services, as have the diffs and transfer case. It just got plugs, an AC compressor, brakes and rubber so I'm hoping the car bills are done for a while. It's like new right now.

Like in any vehicle, when it hits 100K miles, things will need to be replaced as they wear out. However, I don't think there are any certain big flaws these things are suffering. But as long as you are prepared to replace some stuff, you should be good to go with a 100K+ Expedition.

My wife's 04 is about to hit 120K and in the last year, or so, I have spent quite a bit of money on it, but not including the pinion and carrier bearings, none of the have been anything out of the ordinary: brakes, rotors, front hubs, alternator, ignition switch etc.

The rear end work was the biggest thing, but now it should be good to go at least another 120K miles. The only things left for me now are trying to get rid of the airbag light (something to do with passenger side seat belt pretensioner), rear blend door (been clicking almost three years now...) and the dreaded spark plug change... Other than those, it's still going strong!

Depending on which blend door is clicking, it could be a 15 minute job. Then again if it hasn't driven you crazy after three years it isn't likely to! Forgot to mention I need to do shocks to get ready for my next 130k. Still have sticker shock on that job, and no cash to put towards it.

Haha! True...

Seriously, though, it actually has bothered me the whole time, but just haven't gotten around to it yet...

If it goes away when you change it from floor to ceiling, then it is the easy one. 30 seconds to access it and unplug it, and add another 14 minutes to actually replace it.

Nope. Doesn't go away at all, no matter what. I've read the DIY threads here many times, so once I'm ready, I should be good to go. Just need to get the part/s first.

Next time you get gas, pop the liftgate and yank out the change tray. Unplug the unit that's right there and see what happens! You will still have time to get a soda before the pump kicks off.

so, my rear hvac only blows via the roof, not the floor. temp works fine. is that the easy one or the hard one?

edit: n/m, i just looked at the pic in my catalog. now i just need to figure out if it has a cross shaped sharft or d shaped shaft. should be pretty simple.

That's the easy one. Pop off the change tray under the p/s quarter window and it is right there. The tray is held in by arrowhead barbs molded into the tray itself, so get it started by flexing it in in the middle of the long side by the window. It will feel like it is going to break, but it will come.
