Got myself a "new" tractor this weekend. I couldnt argue since the price was free!
Not sure of the year, but its a Fordson Super major, with a diesel, a nice heavy duty front end loader, and a 3 point hitch!
I still have to do some tinkering, and clean the fuel system out, and get the fuel flowing again, but I did have er running for a few minutes today!
And heres my w6 (that will be up for sale soon!) with my JD ten foot disc working away. With all the rain we are having tonight, its hard to believe I was discing this morning!
Colin, do you know anything much about these tractors? My dad said the same thing that they were supposed to be a decent tractor.
Glen, I would actually like to get a bobcat one of these days too, but on an acreage they just are not as versatile as a tractor (specially with a 3 point hitch!) plus to get any sort of attachments are usually 4 times the money, and you can never find em used!
A bobcat has its places though, and would be a handy unit to have around for sure!
Off topic. Who is doing your Unc's sale. I like to seeif they posted some pics of the cars he has. Guys at the Draggins are curious also. Maybe post another thread again.
I thought you be bringing that old Rumley down to work on your place with.
Balicki of Prince Albert is, and he has some stuff up there right now, but now a whole lot, specially considering what is all out there.
In time the rumley, and the lanz bulldog might make their way out here. I dont have a shop or garage built yet, so its hard for me to bring stuff up here to work on!
I don't know a lot about them. They were the last of the Fordson named tractors and they were built the same as the small Massey Ferguson tractors 35, I think and where built in the early 60's. The next line of tractors that came our were the Ford 5000. They were updated with better hydraulics and transmission.
Well I did some digging around in the injection pump, and three of the four plungers were rusty, and stuck shut. Last night I had gotten three of them unstuck, and the inside of the pump almost cleaned right out. Should be running the next time I get a chance to work on it though!
