Oh well today the truck would not start. Tried jumping it with another truck no good. Put my charger on it in 75 amp starting mode. Still nothing the batteries were fully charged at 13.2 volts. Had to get towed out of the campground by a dodge dually. How embarrassing. A nice guy with another 2001 f-350 diesel towed my fiflth wheel for me. What a day for it to finally die. I was gonna try to change out the starter at the campground but I broke a head off of one of the bolts and just said forget it. Gonna have to get to it next weekend.
Wow, usually those bolts are loose, not that tight! They always break down at the worst time, don't they? Find a broken down dodge to tow home and you'll be even, tow two and you'll feel even better.
It was the starter. Had to have it towed to an auto electric shop. They had problems getting out the third bolt as well but finally did it. I'm in the middle of a spate of 16 hr days at work and had no time for the repairs. Cost me $288 plus $80 for the tow. I'm happy that it is finally fixed. Been having the slow starter situation for about 6 months. I always thought it was some kind of battery charging problem or a voltage leak. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it.
