Well, Just got my first f150 and have my to do list out. Hope I can get help here.
Well, I have a 1993 ford f150 4x4 xlt automatic/od with on the fly transfer case.
The LED lights don't turn on, however i do here a clicking under the dash somewhere. But the trans is not engaging.
How can I trouble shoot this? OH did I mention im a newbie..
Thanks
The S.O.T.F system is overly complicated and extremely problematic, diagnosing is a pain in the **** and the parts are pricey. So I suggest you just get one of these instead and go four wheeling next week..........
Would I have to change my hubs also to manual ones?
You don't have to, but getting rid of the automatic hubs is the very first thing one should do. They're absolutely awful. So if you poke around with the sponsors here, I'm sure you can find a set of Warn Premiums or Mile Markers sent to your front door for under $90.00. Trust me, you'll appreciate them some day when you're out in the muck.......
Thanks for the help, just checked out the website, cheap and straight forward.
However, is there any way to see if its something simple like a fuse or something.
Thanks
I don't have the link(s) with me but there are several diagrams on the 'net that show you both the schematics and the diagnosis process for these things. Try Googling Shift On The Fly or Borg Warner Electric Transfer Case issues.........
