Going through/cleaning up some of my grandpas old stuff and found these in the garage. They seem like old thermometers for a kiln or blacksmith furnace??? The labels are half gone so I can't see a brand, does anyone know what these things are called or what they might go for on craigslist. I have 2 and they both appear to be exactly the same, both measure to 2,500 deg F.
It's a pyrometer for either a forge or glass furnace.
thanks but is there a special name for this type? I've already tried typing forge pyrometer/thermometer and every other possible combination into google and have yet to find anything even close.

You're probably not finding pyrometers like those because they probably don't make them like that anymore. If you found those in your grandfather's stuff, he'd probably been hanging on to them for a number of years... The fact they say "Made in U.S.A." on them dates them a few years back lol...
