While I'm searching unsuccessfully

for a similar thread I best post a request here.
Pulling a 14 foot single axle open trailer, nothin but three tree double ladder stands, I drove to Ludowici Ga. from Melb. Fl and back, total aprox. 550 miles, 500 hiway. ran off the 55 gal external tank which usually gets me 675 -700 miles empty. She ran fine till after dropping off a friend here in town 4 miles from home. Started her back up and noticed an odd noise like a loud lifter etc... but who knows with a diesel, drove roughly 2.5 - 3 miles and she started stuttering, so even though I only had 550 or so miles on the tank I flipped back to the main. Eased her home and parked, went out today and checked the external tank and it was amazingly down to w/n an inch or so from the bottom (no fuel gauge), fuel pump is working, fuel bowl is pressureized sp. pipes are all connected. I drug the trailer outback and as I did she was still chuggin and when I went to back the trailer up I was seein white smoke and like it was chuggin/missing when givin it throttle, no smoke when idleing. Lettin it cool off while I search here. I had to change the fuel pump several months ago and it was doin a similar thing before it totally crapped out, but it seems to me the air was out of the lines w/n 2-3 miles of running it after replacement. What else could it be other than air in the lines, or should I run her around town some more. Just remembered I also put a new gray C.P.S. in a day before I changed the fuel pump. Due to the suddeness of symptoms I was leaning towards air in the lines

From: Rio Rico, AZ.
Sounds like a big air bubble to me as well.
Fill that thing up and see what happens.

Damn, had ta go into work for an emergency, but just in case someone has a similar incident, dont panic like I did, it was merely air in the lines and required some more miles to work it out, thanks Kwik. I was a little concerned readin some similar posts. damn paranoia
