blown fuse?

blown fuse?

My 71 f100 is blowing fuses when the turn signal, is on and you shake the pickup, It just started doing this Where should i look for the short?

Custom, you are describing a short to ground on one of the supply wires to your lights. The first thing to do is crawl under, trace out the wires, look for any frayed insulation where the wire might be touching the frame. You have four feed wires; crawl, look. Tape up anything that is suspicious.

Take out all the bulbs, shake. Still blow fuse? Do you see any crud down in the sockets of the bulbs?

These kinds of problems can be difficult. Your vehicle is decades old.

Short Circuit

714x4custom,my 72 did almost the same thing,the headlights would kick out when running on rough or uneven ground. last time it happened I got out and started shaking wires up front until I found the short. It was in the light wire harness that runs next to the battery box,over the years the tape and wire insulation had worn thru and started shorting from time to time. I taped it up then sliced a length of hose the long way and put it on the wires where it had been rubbed off,problem solved.Hope this helps.
