Aluminum Fuel Tank ?

Has anyone used a spun aluminum fuel tank from Speedway. Theirs are considerably cheaper than anyone else so I am looking for others opinions.
I know these tanks need to be mounted in the bed which I don't mind but are there any con's to these tanks being used. It would be easier to install than the under bed frame mounted type. Thanks for any info offered.

Here is the link to the fuel tank. Just curious if anyone here has used these tanks. Even if you bought from another company.

11 gallons of fuel? Thats not much for these old trucks. I can't remember anyone talking about them. I hate that my original tank only holds 17 gallons at 8 to 10 miles per gallon thats only 136 to 170 miles a tank. Man I'll be stopping as often as I do on my motorcycle!

Yeah, it's not very big but I will only be driving in town on the weekends so it really doesn't bother me much. Just trying to save some cash and this route would save me some but don't want to do it if it cost me later.

A couple of things I see that may be of concern is they disclaim right off the bat it's for of road use only. That means it's not DOT approved, for whatever reason, but I'm guessing it's because the fuel line outlet may be coming straight out the bottom with no protection from spillage. That's why modern fuel tanks have the outlet line coming out of the top.

The next issue is the outlet port is only 1/4", as opposed to 5/16" or 3/8" which would be much more desirable and more inline with OEM spec. It may or may not be a problem, but it certainly would be restrictive.

My 2c.

I don't know. Several places selling aluminum fuel tanks so I assume fine but will check into it though. Nice thought.

Why are fooling with a in box tanks there is a new mustang tank (for rear under bed mount) on eBay for $ 77.50 right now. At least when it blows up / burns you have time to run (fast).

Thanks, I have bought mustang tanks (new) that leak and leave you stranded. Trying a different approach this time.
The Red Wings were'nt the Red Wings this year, they sucked, was suprised they made the playoffs. Canucks played good this year, and the Flyers are surprising me. Thanks
