might depend on which motor you have and if standard cab or crew cab... also, there should be a tin tag haning on one of the pan bolts.. look at the code on that.. it will be 8.8 or 9.75 size and the other numbers will be the gear ratio such as 3.55 or 3.73, etc.
On the inside of your door jamb (driver side) there should be a sticker with a series of codes on it. One of these codes is for the axel, mine is H9 which is 3.55 limited slip. You may be able to figure out what size you need from that.
My local ford dealers are pretty cool and if I run into a problem like this I can call them with my VIN number and they will tell me the info I am looking for if they can.

Tell us if you have the 4.6 or the 5.4L motor. The 5.4L motor will have the 9.75" rear, otherwise you will have the 8.8" rear. The 8.8" will amost look kind of round if you look at it.
