New shoes

Picked up a set of Road Venture AT KL78 305/70-16's for $140 a pop. Ordered saturday night, they arrived today, from tirerack. Took them to my local tire shop, $60 later I'm backing out of the garage. Did a few figure 8's, lock to lock with no rubbing. They fill the wheel well better, they're wider, and from the looks of the tread I won't be getting stuck any time soon. As far as noise goes, I drive a diesel, so I cannot say if they make noise or not.

They ride well, feel good, and grip the road well. I was driving on wet roads and goosed it a couple times around corners, stopped suddenly, etc. Where my old tires would have broke traction, these did not.

Stock 16" x 7" rims also?

The tire does not seem too ballooned?

I was looking at these tires, so let us know your thoughts after some mileage.

I have ran 305's on three Superduties and my last Excursion. They all wore reasonably well but I had to keep tire pressure down to keep the center from wearing. They do bulge on the wheel, but look pretty good. I never had rubbage even on my V10 Ex with shot springs.

I ran them on mine for a few hours (literally) and they looked good and didn't bulge...me neighbor ran them on his '01 and his '04 they almost looked like they were what the stock specs should've been.

Stock rims, stock tires, stock everything. Did figure 8's around the lot on my way out. went to lock, got out and checked by eye. it's good. there is a wee bit of road noise i can hear when i am not driving fast, or am at idle coasting. at 50lbs they feel washy. but my previous tires were at 80lbs, so i'm going to take these to 75lbs and see how it feels.

Jay, I meant with your tires mounted on the truck itself, but close enough...

Is that guy sitting on a roll of tire labels?!?

Well why didn't you say so?

Pullin' stumps, so they're a bit dirty.

It was a good afternoon.

Some stumps are too big even for the mighty Excursion:

Hmm, did you try getting a rolling start before giving up on the X? That solved any issues I ran into.

That's what I was gonna say....a running start in 4LO should yank anything out of anywhere.

In theory. My ex-wife is such a tight-*** you'd be hard pressed to pull a needle out in 4lo...
