Since my last visit I have put my '95 F-150 5.0 4X4 back together with the following:
K&N FIPK, Ford Racing S/S headers, Ford Racing E303 cam and lifters with a 4* advance, Edelbrock 5.0 Truck Performer Intake, Permacool Cool Pack twin fan kit, I am also running Accel remote ignition module, 9000 series plug wires and U-groove 8180 plugs with #586 resistor. I'm running with 22.5* base timing.
The timing advance is for better throttle response. The trouble is that I have what seems to be spark knock in my left bank. I know that taking out more timing will help, but i would like to know what else may resolve this.

Your base timing should be at 4 to 8 degrees advance and distributor will advance the timing with rpm increases. Use your timing light and verify that you gave no more than 42 degrees advance at under 3,000 rpm.
Using your timing light you need to verify that your total advance is between 38 to 42 degrees. That's why I said to rev the engine to 3,000rpm. There should be no more advance coming in at that point. Then if you still have throttle response and spark knock issues you need to search further as the ignition is most likely not the problem.
