Got a wiring question: Got 4 Hella's I am installing and am curious what wire I need to tap into for energizing the relay(s) so that the lights can come on with both the high and low beams??
Is it easiest to tap the wire just behind the headlight? If not, where is the best place to tap it?
For info purposes: I am installing two switches on the dash to control each set of 2. I am just using the Hella harness that came with the lights, nothing complicated.
first off i wouldnt recremend using the wireing harness that comes with the llights the wireing is usally a very high gauge and you blow fuses like no other. trust me spend the extra couple bucks on some 10 to 12 ga wire and do it right so you dont have to spend even more time fixing it.
And about on were to tap into i pulled the headlight switch out on my 05 f250 and taped into the power wire that goes into the switch for the headlights so it looks very clean it was the light brown wire or you can tap in behined the headlights but then you have to make sure you tape up the wires really good so they dont touch a ground and short your circut.
I wanted to add driving lights to my 2007 F 150 , because of the computer i was afraid to tap a 12 v source under the hood
I found a device on the net for just over 15.00 it hooks across the battery and with only 12 volts the lights are off but when the engine is running the alternator puts out a higher voltage than 12 volts and turns on the lights it also has a way to dim lights when dim headlights are turned on bob Urbahns
