I'm not a flatty expert, but I'd advise the thermostat should fit your area. If you live in the South/Southwest, 160's are probably better. If you live up North/North East, 180's are probably the best choice. This is general rule of thumb though. Definitely keep the thermostat in, and consider using a mechanical backup temp guage (under dash type) that will tell you actual degrees instead of just Hot or Cold. (Got burned by a falty temp guage a couple years ago...now I'll always run a back up/modern guage).
