I have an 02 F350 V10 Reg cab with 4.10's. My mileage has taken a complete dump now down to 4 mpg. The fuel filter was just replaced and I was told it was clogged as all hell. Air filter is newer, and just changed the oil. No lights on the dash, checked the front hubs and they are disengaged. Couple things I have noticed in the past year is that I do have a rough idle, the 4x4 light will not stay on the dash when engaged, and the abs light comes on every now and then but has no effect. I have taken it to my mechanic for the rough idle and he just keeps replacing coils hoping it will go away. I am completely lost here and do not like the guessing game at trying to replace parts. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Your mass airflow sensor could probably use a cleaning, or replacing. Also, try leaving your battery unplugged for a few hours, then plug it back in and go. It will force the computer to re-evaluate its engine control strategy.

My suggestion: Find a real mechanic, not someone who just throws parts at something. A real mechanic can diagnose a problem so they know what to fix. Your "mechanic" is ripping you off and using you as a cash cow.
I've been experiencing almost the same, DTCs lead to the mass airflow sensor, I'm hoping thats all it is but then again I'm also hearing different sounds now at idle. sucks
mass air flow censor and air idle control valve........ i'd trouble shoot those two area's first.
there was another member a while back that was having VERY similar issues, and he ended up finding that his mass air flow censor was not plugged in all the way after he changed his filter.
as far as the AIC, had a semi weird idle issue in the past and cleaned the AIC with some degreaser, and a tooth brush, and it seemed to help out quite a bit, there was no more slight fluctuation at an idle.
How many miles/years are on the spark plugs and boots?
Plugs were done 2 years ago. Haven't done wires or anything yet. I forgot to add the truck has 74k on it. I'm going to try some of the suggestions. Thanks again
If the vacuum leak patrol, MAF and IAC cleaning don't help, consider replacing the upstream 02 sensors. Once they get a bit fouled, they give errant reading to ECU, which sends worse signals to injectors, which results in more fouling, which results in even worse feedback.... Classic death spiral.
And it usually won't trip the CEL because the ECU is thinking everything is OK because of the readings from the 02 sensors - which are garbage.
I change at 100K in all my vehicles as normal PM.
The 02 sensors after the cat converters are rarely an issue as the exhaust after the cat is pretty clean.

hmm that might be what im finding.. my truck has over 200K miles now, and i dont know if the O2 sensors have ever been changed or not..
