the grills look awesome in the mercs, i got a couple 46 fords and i think i may like the look of urs a lil better. did u polish out the pieces on the hood?
Looks great. I have always loved the looks of the Mercs. I was planning to build a clone of one, even went so far as to buy the whole grille panel and all the merc specific trim for one. Just never built it. Those trucks are beautiful, and unique, especially here in the states. Trucks just seem to always inspire a love from their owners.
Love the 42-47 Mercs. And like how your putting the old girl to use. I also noticed the sliding rear window. Was that standard on all of those year Merc trucks, or was it added?
Great looking truck by the way. More pics would be good.

The slider is original. This was the first year for the Merc truck. Some think that Ford just used extra chrome trim for the Merc, but there where several changes - from the hood and tailgate to the slider as you noted.
My truck came with Nickel-only trim becuase they weren't using chrome in 1946. The previous onwer swapped it out for chrome trim from a 47 - but I still have all the original trim store away.
Thought I'd update this a bit. In this mild winter I've left it outside and have even started it a couple times! I have a thermostatically-controlled blocks-heater (magnet) and battery charger on it. It was out front for a few months with Christmas lights on it - just moved it to the back.
As you can see I had the doors lettered - whole nuther story there.... and it's still getting used as it should be!
Here's me taking some engine blocks to the recyclers. They sucked them out of the truck with the giant magnet!
I like this shot - 2 FORD products, 50+ years apart:
This spring the Old Man is getting new tires - full WhiteWalls - and I'll paint the rims a cream color. I've been considering finally switching over to 12V as well. As much as I like the kitchiness and old-school flavour of 6V, it sometimes strands me as it turns over soooo slowly. Everything else remains the same.
