Primary ignition probs - C850
I know this is the 67-72 "F" series forum but I assume that the ignition wiring is similar in the C-series trucks of similar vintage. I apologize if I've offended anyone by invading w/ my 1967 CT-850 question but here goes.
I've got the above mentioned vehicle, a pretty rough old farm rig (grain truck) w/ hydraulic lift bed etc.... Anyway, I shut it down one time recently and when I went to restart - nothing. Not even a clicking at the starter relay. Battery and relay replaced and starter tested - all okay. I can get it to turn over and even run a bit by jumping from starter side of relay to starter itself. Looks to me like I have power coming off what I thought was the "S" terminal on my ignition switch - I say I thought because my experience has been that the middle terminal (coming out from the center of the switch) has been the S terminal but according to the diagrams from TOCMP I'm wrong and that middle lug is the ACC terminal.
So my question is, first, since my switch is not marked, which terminal is which for this rig? Two, what's the best way to determine where the short/trouble is in getting power to the starter from the switch? This thing has a transmatic transmission but I'm pretty sure the guys that butchered this thing bypassed that long ago. BTW- this thing is a pain in the a-- to work on as there are a lot of wiring bundles under the dash going all over the place -many to nowhere. ARRGHH.
