i wasnt sure if a 16 ft trailer would handle it. i have hauled mine on 18ft trailers and seems like i wouldnt want 16. I was also towing with a stock 2wd 1/2 ton so may have had the load in a different place. 20 ft trailers sure are nice though...
This is a 156" wheelbase F-6 4x4 on an 18 foot car hauler (the dual wheels wouldn't clear the side rails on my 20 footer).
A 133" wheelbase truck should fit on a 16 foot trailer with no problem.
Well, it's all about wheel width and backspacing. That's with stock steel wheels. There would be some serious rubbing if they were mounted on wider wheels with less backspacing.
I don't know where you guys are weighing your trucks. But there's no way they are that heavy. I agree with Lasthighboy, 4500 is a good starting point for a stock truck.
I think, if you read the whole post, he said his F150 weighs 4500. My 75 F250 4x4 weighs 5480 with 1 tank full and 1 tank 1/2 full. My 78 F250 weighs 5300 with both tanks full (Certified scale at the truck stop).
My '75 weighs in at 5200, but what I want to know is why trailer length is such a concern. It's either rated for the weight or not regardless of the length. I wouldn't hesitate to use the dolly.
Well....compressorguy, I think we are on the same page. I just said I agreed with his weight estimates. If he is going to TOW the truck, and not DRIVE it....... it most likely has empty tanks, donut tires, and maybe even missing a few parts. That's why I said 4500 is a good STARTING weight. However, 5000 is probably a better estimate. I was just saying that 6000 seems a little heavy....even with driver.
That F6 looks tough Hillbilly, what are you going to do with it? I see you are in Hattiesburg, I have family in Colombia and I am in Mobile. Can I be nosy and ask what you do there? I'm guessing you have a shop there, I'm starting resto on a '76 f100 4x4, sniffin around for parts lol.

I believe the OP's concern was whether on not it would FIT on his 16ft trailer.

Ha, yeah....the thing is pretty tough looking. It's a Marmon-Herrington All-Wheel-Drive......and I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it.......yet. For right now, it just looks awesome sitting in the field!! I have a small shop, and buy and sell old Ford 4x4 stuff. I actually just bought a 76 F-100 4x4 parts truck last week...... PM me if there's anything you're looking for.
I am looking at trying to tow a 77 F350 crew dually and am trying to figure out how. Does anyone have the gross weight of this truck? I have a heavy duty tow dolly, but the max vehicle weight is 4750 according to the manufacture. Is this enough or what do you suggest. Thank you.
