Today I went yard saleing. Came across a beautiful set of like new furnature. 3 cushion couch, 2 cushion love seat, single cushion chair, 2 end tables, and a coffee table, perfect for the now empty den. All in white pine too! So I tossed it all in the back of the excursion. It took some creative manipulating, but I got it all in. Brought it home, wiped it down, beat the cushions to remove the dust, and set it up.
Then I mowed the lawn, and decided to tackle the hedges I've been meaning to remove. So I got my tractor and trailer, Craftsman 19.2v saw-zall, and had at it. Got 5 out and was left with stumps and the trailer was full. So I tossed a steel cable around one of the stumps and attached to a chain attached to the ball on the back of my truck. Gave a yank, spun the tire. Put it in 4 low, gave it a load of diesel fuel, the turbo spooled, and wham, came right out. Did 3 more like that, and then the cable snapped. Damn, I thought. So I got a 10k lb lift strap, gave it another go, and boy was it stubborn. I had to give 3-4 good rolling tugs before it came out. There roots attached to the stump were about 4' wide. These things had been planted over 30 years ago mind you. Still, it did great. Took it out of 4wd, drove around the block to make sure I still had a transmission, and everything worked great.
I seriously thing that nothing short of a 6.0 would have pulled it out, it took everything I had.
5 down, 15 to go... I think I'm going to do them in sets of 5, and make sure everything is still working properly inbetween. I mean, we're getting old here, cruising at 191k miles...

Too bad you're so far away, I could bring my V10 (6.8 liters) by and have those out in about 5 minutes. It may even have to come off idle to do it, but not much.
Not to start a diesel vs gasser debate, but I'm pretty sure 570lb torque of the 6.0 vs 425lb torque, 325hp vs 310 hp, would dictate otherwise. Displacement isn't everything. The 6.0 is stronger than the 7.3 liter v8 diesel in the 00-03 excursions. Even the 6.8litre gas v10 is stronger in both torque and hp than the 7.3litre diesel.
I should have been more clear. Dominately I think of the 6.0 the strongest engine that ford makes (this sense came from before the 6.4 or 6.7 diesel existed) and is stronger than any other manufacturer, so saying it has to be a 6.0, to me at least, means it has to be a ford.
The 6.0 is good but like any diesel, a good chip or tuner will make a stump piller out of many of them. My 7.3L with tuner is at about 325Hp & 665 Ft Lb of torque and will pull some stumps as well.
