No, the tranny and motor mounts are different.

why dont you just swap in a 390???? it uses the same size block and everything will swap right over into the 390. and the 390 is in my opinion a hella lot better than the 400.

To go from a 360FE equiped truck to a 400....completely different engine family so to name a few items you will need:
Engine mounts, exhaust manifold, transmission if auto, bellhousing, flywheel and clutch if manual, most likely a different radiator, plus all the brackets for alternator, PS pump etc.
Plus you may have to get a different driveshaft or modify the one you have, I am not really sure on this one.
This is just the things that come "off the top of my head" you may need more or even less....

Even though I have a 400 in my 79,I would go with the 390 just because of the swap over. There is nothing wrong with the 390,and from my research is more affordable as far as parts and performance not to mention availability.I have looked at doing the opposite of you and dropping a 390 in just because of this.My dad had a 390 in his 65 from when his 292 went to heaven, and he put about 120000 miles ayear on it.When he sold the truck it had close to 750000 miles on it,and only 75000 were on the 292,yes he replaced the 390 twice after, but he was alot happier with the cubes. So for simplicity,go with the 390.John

I'm taking a 400 (4 speed) out of a '78 F350 and putting a '74 360 in.
I have the whole 400 engine, top to bottom, front to back.
It is a pain to switch "families".
I am having to find little odds and ends.
P.S. I need the Z bar pivot bracket from a 360, if you aren't going to need it !!
Take care,
Mike
