302 flywheel

Help! I just got a flywheel off 83 Bronco for my 87 5.0 swap. I am not 100% sure that I have a 50 oz flywheel. My old 28.2 oz flywheel casting # is C5AE-6380-E. The casting # on the new one is C6AE-8380-C. They feel about the same weight. They look pretty much the same. Should the 50 oz have some obvious differences from the old one? This clutch had a 11" diaphram clutch on it. Any help would be great.

The '83 flywheel should be the 50oz balance weight. If you have an older flwheel to compare to, the difference in the weight size (located near the ring gear) should be obvious. The casting # of C6 would lead me to believe that what you have is actually a 28.8 flywheel, however.

I was looking closer at my flywheels and noticed that in addition to the casting number, there was a stamped in number of E0TE-BA. Using Fords decoding, and with a date code of 9K16, this leads me to believe it was made in 1989. My old flywheel also had a stamped in it, C7TE-A. However, even if it was made in 89, this doesn't mean that it didn't come off of a 351, which would still be 28.2 oz. balance. The engine I took this flywheel off of had the correct balancer, but this doesn't mean that it didn't have vibration problems (it was in the junk yard for a reason).

The weight you are referring to, I don't have one. The flexplate for the AOD that came with my engine had a large weight welded to it, but my flywheel does not. The old flywheel has many more holes bored into for balancing purposes than the new one, if that matters. Any more ideas on identfacation of what I have?
