I have a 2004 with roughly 75k miles. It was raining, and I pulled into a gas station. I got out and smelled an awful smell, then looked at my front left tire and smoke was coming out through the tire. What could this be? I am taking it into the shop to get the rear differential fixed next week, can I drive it to there and have them look at it? or should i have it towed? Thanks for the help.
You mean coming out between the wheel spokes? I'd say your brakes are locked up on that wheel. I wouldn't drive it until you get it fixed. How far is the shop?
Sounds like you have a locked up brake caliper. If you continue to drive it,youll wreck the rotor(if its not already toast).IF you must drive it,make it a REALLY short trip.
I agree. it is probably the caliper frozen. Pull the tire off and look at the setup there are 2 pins that the caliper slides on. see if yo can free them up and see if you can free up the caliper , whack it with a rubber mallet..
