here's one for ya.

my bro innlaw has a 1989 f-250 with the 7.3 in it.when he starts it up it runs great for about 15min, then when it warms up a little bit it turns into a fog machine. it blows blue smoke terribly and you can smell raw fuel so bad that it burns your eyes and it doesnt clear up no matter how hard he runs it.i thought i read awhile back that somehow the return lines get plugged up causing this but i'm not sure.can anyone help?.

Does the smoke come on at the same time as the high idle/ cold advance shutting off? ( the engine will have a dendancy to start running badly instantly, not gradually.

In some cases really badly worn out injector pumps can develop poor running when the engine is warmed up.

or the engine could be junk. my buddies 6.5L torched a cyl and ran like that until it warmed up. but it cleared up after that. i would say because it runs decent at start up check the compression on each cylinder. its cheaper than testing an IP and if the redings are decent. i would then send the injectors off for testing. then the IP. i would use the available options in the order thats cheapest but thats just me. a compression test should run about 50 bucks or he can do it him self for about the same by buying a compression tester.

thanks for the replies.it's almost like it's getting to much fuel after it's warmed up somehow.i'm leaning toward injection pump or injectors.

Makes me wonder if it isn,t a timing problem if it doesn't smoke while the cold advance is on.
