Does anyone know where the oil pressure sensor goes into the motor. Mine is not working and i want to replace it. It's a 95 EB Bronco with the 5.0. Thanks
It's screwed into the side of the engine block. It's difficult to see but it's almost straight up from the oil filter. It has a single wire with a press on connector going to it. It helps to have the special socket to get it out.
Basically not, the most accurate oil gauges are mechanical, and actually run a little oil inside a line to measure the pressure, so they won't work with our electrical gauges and sensors.
I have installed electric sending units and OP gauges on my 07 Explorer and 02 F150. There are many threads regarding the operation of stock pressure gauges.
I have a unit (sender and gauge) on order for my 96 Bronco.
Yes, the sending unit on the Bronco is just above the oil filter, it is set pretty deep and it is hard to see.
I use an electrical gauge and keep the stock one functional too.
(I think the 07 Explorer still needs the sender signal)
No matter how you do it, a real oil pressure reading is important.
Yup, cuz the stock gauges (in theory) only need 6-8psi to move. Doesn't mean they're right though-----and if you're on the freeway doing 70 and you happen to look down and see your dash gauge go to Zero, by the time you pull over you're probably gonna be the proud owner of a 500 pound paperweight..........

Ricky B, how did you do that? the gauges are working sepparately? (that would be my guess).
It took me about an hour to sort it out geometrically, but basically I just went to my local hardware store and bought a bag full of various brass pipe fittings (els, tees, nipples) and made it work. But it did take some playing around. The trick is to make sure you finish up with enough clearance so that you can still get your oil filter wrench on the filter. I'll try to take some pics of it for you later today to give you an idea on what mine looks like if you want........
