ughhhhh ok so the Bronco started to overcharge....likely external voltage regulator. I am waiting for the part to come in so I start checking grounds and wiring in general. I find on the alternator (side wire entrance) there is a large power out, and there are 2 smaller wires going into the side with female connectors. One is a little larger and goes back into the wiring harness, the other, the terminal closest to the radiator as the alternator is installed goes to a plug...well the plug is not plugged in and judging by the amount of crud on the inside of the plug it has not been plugged in for a long time. The wiring diagram i have says this wire (white w/blk stripe) goes to the ECU.....there is nothing at all anywhere near there that the plug could go to. AND to top it all off.....these connections had been twisted together by hand and covered in silver duct tape. sigh.....
I fixed the connections properly but i now have a wire to nowhere....I hate wires to nowhere.
any help? Please? I am charging the battery tonite to see if the overcharge goes away after fixing this nightmare covered in road grime.
thanks...i did some more digging and found that the homeless wire I have would have gone to the choke....I have a Fuel Injected motor....no electric choke.
Ill look again at my wiring diagram...try and make sense of it.
