Hello all I'm gonna do my temp switch tomorrow and was wondering is it able to break easy as say the glowplugs? I'll spray it with pb blaster but what I'm asking is will it come off easy or will it break? I'm just worried and also what size socket is it? Thanks for the help
It's the sensor that's on the water pump it tells you if your running hot or not all my other gauges work except the temp gauge so Im thinking it's the sensor
OHHHH. The Temp sending unit! Mine wasn't hard to do back in December. Just a quick switch. I forget what size though. Just pop the plug on top and swap it out.
James this may be a stupid question but did it just stop working someone told me it may not be bad but it just runs cold I don't think so to that I mean it's just laying. Down the needle that is thanks Paul

I swapped mine just for reassurance. I knew my stat was toast and the heat in the cab wasn't getting hot and the gauge barely reached the NORMAL range. For the extra 10 bucks or whatever it was, i swapped out the sender too. Just for assurance. There is a way to test the sender if you want... I have the instructions sitting right here if you want to go through it. By the way, there are no stupid questions on here, were here to help.

Idk, my old sb chev had warning lights, not temp gauges. When i swapped the stat and sender, my gauge needle now sits at R when warmed up and creeps into the M when pushin hard. Keep in mind if your problem is the stat and not the sender, fixing the sender wont do anything. I broke a bolt in my thermostat housing. It happens. Nothing you can do about it.
It is a CrankCase Vent. Basically you take the doghouse that sits on top of your drivers side valve cover and goes up into your intake system, turn it around and vent all the oil vapors out of the intake and run a hose to the back of your truck. Then you just plug the hole in the aluminum piece of your intake system and call it good.
I haven't done it, I figured its not worth the trouble right now. For the plug, im not sure.. probably just a freeze plug or maybe just jb weld a piece of metal to the outside of it. just make sure its sealed up.
