I've got a 94 F150 XL - white with the "grey painted" bumper in back.
Like all of em' I've seen on the road, the paint's peeling off the bumper. Looks lousy. This is my daily-driver and I want it to look sharp.
What are my choices? I see the aftermarket has a few choices in new chromed bumpers for a few hundred bucks.
Anybody used those? Are they lighter-duty than the original OEM bumper? They all seem to be "universal" to fit all pickups, with mount kits to adapt it to whatever pickup you're fitting it to. That seems like it can't lead to a good fit, can it? Any recommendations here?
The body guy I trust is willing to remove, strip, repaint, reinstall, but that's going to run to big bucks.
The Schweib guys have a $99 bumper special (plus material) but given the large number of folks who go to the bargain shops and come away dissatisfied, I'm leery of this choice. I can just imagine dark-grey overspray all over my white. ("Sorry man, usually the bumper is the same color as the car!")
If you're lookin for a chrome bumper LMC has a great selection for these trucks. Spend the extra money and get the higher quality OEM spec ones. They're definately worth it on a truck that sees anything but a trailer.

Thanks to Cash 4 Clunkers, You can find tons o'bumpers in the junkyard! I remember having trouble finding a rear bumper for one of my truck about 10 years ago. Now, as soon as I walk in the junkyard; I see several of them! The last place I asked sells them for $60.00 right now.
