Fuel Pump Help!

I have a 95 PSD I was sitting at a light and it started running real rough so I pulled off to the side and it died and would not re-start.I pulled the top of the filter housing off and no fuel. After I had it towed home I got on here and read around and tried a few things( I filled the filtr housing with fuel) I finaly got it to start. Before I filled the fitler housing with fuel I had someone turn it over while I put a tire gauge on it and it had no pressure.I put the fuel in it and after turning it over for a while it would not start, I found the screen on the side and pulled it out and it was full of junk, cleaned it out and that is when I finaly got it to start. It seem to run fine.I drove it around off and on for a couple of days(about 50 miles) then it did it again No fuel in the housing and the screen is clean. Is my fuel pump going out or could it be something else. Thanks for anyones help.

Man! that looks like a great kit PJ. I did mine in bits and pieces. That would have saved a lot of time!
