Well I thought I'd share with you a clutch pedal issue I was having. Basically the clutch pedal push rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder had come loose and was driving me CRAZY!
When the pedal was released it would come up about 2 to 3 inches higher then the brake pedal and I knew it was the clip that holds it in the master cylinder. So I stopped by the Ford Stealership and asked if the clip was sold separately and of coarse he tried to sell me the plastic clip that holds the rod to the pedal, not the rod to the master cylinder.
I let him know it was the wrong part and he said, "Oh, yea we don't sell that, you would have to buy the whole kit which includes the master cylinder, line, slave cylinder and it is full of fluid". I said, "all I need is just the clip. I'll figure out something, thank you"
So I came home, popped the hood, twisted the cylinder and pulled it out to find a portion of the clip smashed into the back of the plastic and the other part of the clip flattened against the wall.
So I proceeded removing the retaining clip and then removing the clip that holds the rod.
Once removed I cut it with a dremel tool to make some new clips.
Once cut I bent them inward so they would clip onto the rod, put it back in the master cylinder, put the retaining C clip back into place, reinstalled the master cylinder, pushed the rod back in and "CLICK" it hooked. There is still a very minuet amount of play in the clutch but it doesn't come up 3 inches anymore, now it is more like 1/4 an inch of slop from the clip having a little to much slack but it feels a TON better! At least it isn't trying to come up and touch my knee anymore
So, moral of the story is that this clip can be modified to work again and you don't have to spend $200 to fix a $.10 clip.
ooo great where was your post about 4 months ago whenit happened to me lol, tried looking for all sorts of info. i finally just got a new cyl today and am going to install it this weekend.
Sorry man, I should have done it a while back, seems I have to go and do it again though, my clips held for about a week, I think I cut them to short. I'll let you know how this next fix goes. Worst case scenario I'll go to the junk yard and take the piece I need off a truck there. Heck, may as well take the whole clutch setup and use it as parts!
jsimmonds, since you haven't installed it yet, take the new master cylinder back for full credit and then either head for the junkyard or use visseroth's fix!
I'll bet that the clutch system in the superdutys is also used on other Fords, especially the vans and F150's. Most junkyards know what fits.
OO I thought about it but I ordered it through rockauto, and it was only $50 bucks with shipping. Sometimes my wife takes the truck with all the kids in it And I dont want to leave her stuck.

Some stuff the dealer isnt bad on, but they where way out on this part.
Hey has anyone had and e brake issues? I went to put mine on and heard a snap I thought it was a cable. But it seems theres 2 geared teeth in the pedal? Have been searching but no luck, and you cant see anything without taking the computer out ( at least i think thats the computer there )
