Tail lights problem
I have a 61 f250, and the back of the lights are the square looking ones, that came with the stepside, for some reason when i turn on my head lights my reverse lights come on in the back? people tell me it is a wiring problem but is there an easy fix to this? has this happened to anyone else? THANKS! Erik

Yes, that would be an easy fix. Go to the wiring harness that goes into the tail lights and using a 12 volt test light, turn on your head lights and check the wires for voltage. When you find the wire with the voltage that will be the tail light wire. remove that wire from the reverse light and reattach it to the tail light wire. Then set the parking brake and with the engine off put the truck in reverse with the ign. switch on. Again take your 12 volt test light and check which wire has the voltage. Connect that wire to the reverse light and you should be in business.

For some reason when i turn on my head lights my reverse lights
come on in the back?

If you have backup (reverse) lights, you have 1967/79 Flareside/Cab & Chassis taillights on your 1961. These are squarish in shape, incorporate the backup lens.
The original taillamps are shaped like a shield, were used on 1953/66 Flaresides & Cab & Chassis...have no backup lamps.
