I was looking for another piece of stainless for my radiator setup, looking thru the header makers for parts.. and stumbled on this nice picture of how to make a template.. grrrr.. things you don't think about
Sam,
Wow, pretty interesting. I guess it makes sense to try to mock it up beforehand with cheap and disposable materials. I know that if I tried to make my own headers I'd probably end up making a large pile of stuff to take to the scrap yard...LOL

yeh, and if you look at my gallery on making my headers I did cut & paste, oops, retry a bunch .. didn't run out of parts, but it sure woulda been easier..
NEVER thought of it...
also, if you look at the bottom finished pic, they welded the shorty tubes to the headers (stub I think the call them), and then expanded the finished pipe to slide over the stubs..
(can really see it best on the third pipe from the right).. another thing that would have made this easier..
I used PVC to mock up an upper radiator hose when I installed my engine. That way I could take it to the parts store and try to find a molded hose that would work. It sure looked goofy and my friends sure teased me, but I was able to fire the truck up and drive it around the block without having to worry about it overheating.
I never did find a molded hose that would work. I ended up using a 1.5 90 degree sweep for electrical conduit with short sections of raditor hose on either end.
right.. I have a 1.5 in piece of stainless exhaust, and small rubber hoses..
I want to put some pretty ends (from the typical coil metal hose) on, but will need to gt another piece custom bent with the 90 for over the thermostat and a 45 into the radiator to shorten the rubber hoses..
