I have been having this problem for awhile but thought the mechanic had cleared it up the last time I was in. He put a new DEGAS tank and cap on and everthing was fine. Drove like I stole it every now and then. Then this weekend I hooked up the trailer, loaded the bobcat and headed down the highway to my destination (10 miles). Get out of the truck and notice my running board is soaked, look in the driver side fender well and its drenshed also, open the hood and so is the whole driver side of the engine compartment and the coolant tank is empty. That is the second time it has done this under a load. Why would it only do this under a load? Is it the HG's or EGR Cooler?
This couldnt have come at a worse time with a notification that our job is coming to an end in 30 days. Thank god I decided to get the extended warranty.
If you do't know your dealer I'd get rid of the intake, ccv reroute and put the cat back before taking it in. You could risk losing your warranty. They are getting picky on mods and warranties.
I spoke to the mechanic yesterday, he seems to think thats its the head gaskets since it only does it under a load. I asked him about doing the studs and he said no problem. I like my mechanic, I asked him about tuners and he said as long as it isnt run on high performance, he doesnt care. He has a couple calls to make to since HG's are one of the things that needs to be cleared with ford before its done. Dont want to push my luck with asking about the egr delete yet but might upgrade it to the stainless steel tube one while he is in there.
Got my ARP head studs in last week, $395 to the door, thought that was a heck of a good price, what do you think? Hopefully the gauges will be here this week, ordered fuel pressure, EGT, Trans Temp and boost gauge. Going to order water and oil temp gauges later on. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time and want to monitor every aspect of the vehicle.
