1996 box side wheel arch rust, need ideas to cover with flares, etc.

I got an old work truck from a friend's contracting fllet. F350 Crew cab 4x4. The box has a pipe racka nd Tommy lift so I dont want to replace the box or sides, etc. body work wise. Any one have some ideas on large fender flares or somethng that covers 2-3 inches of wheelwell arch rust? It is a rough old truck so this in not a restore effort. I was wondering if anyone had ever covered the rust with some form of fiberglass resin/ mesh and then sprayed the side of the box with a Line-X type undercoat, etc.?

I cut the section out, then rivited in some new metal, and shaped some bondo to match the wheel well shape. Then using a t square, drilled a hole in it and zip tied a sharpie onto it, then made the shape of the wheel well with it, and taped it, then used roll on bed liner. That eventually then rotted worse then it was.

Here is the propper and labor intensive way to fix it lol.

Here was my 1st fix.

I work at an autobody shop trust me the only way to fix it is picture #1. The other ways just cover it from your eyes.

Bushwacker sells flairs that cover about 2" worth. They also sell cutout flairs that cover more than 3"
