Hi Guys. I'm new to this forum(just signed up) and had a question maybe someone could help with. I have lost two egr valves in my 03 F250. This past week my son and I were headed fishing and was getting off the Interstate going down the off ramp when I lost the second one or this was what I thought. When I gave it fuel you couldn't see what was behind you for the white smoke. Drove it to the local Ford dealer and the tech told me I had oil in the coolant. This I could already see. He also said the head gaskets were blown. All in all $4700. My question is, while I have all this stuff being replaced should I just go ahead and have him delete the cooler and egr. One final question, WHO makes a GOOD delete system?
Thanks
FORD....you will need to sign a waiver due to the fact that is is for off road only. At least that is what they told me at Towne Ford in Wenatchee Washington two weeks ago.
Oil in the coolant is from an oil cooler failure, not a headgasket failure. A Ford dealer can NOT delete emissions equipment of any kind for any reason. The failed oil cooler in turn probably caused an EGR cooler failure which caused coolant loss and the white smoke out the tailpipe. Not to say you don't have failed headgaskets, but he has a LOT of diagnosis to do before he can just say headgaskets. Blown headgaskets on a 6.0 don't normally leak coolant into the cylinders. Possible but VERY rare. IF you end up doing headgaskets then make SURE you have him install ARP head studs, have the heads checked for surface flatness (.002 max) and magnafluxed for cracks. If he's not willing to do at LEAST those small things on the heads then DON"T waste your money at that dealership.
the '03 has a slightly different set up for egr.. I think (??). I thought the Sinister kit looked pretty good at $285 shipped (try Ebay; Best offer). There are a couple of others that re-configure the intake manifold and they look awesome, but i think $600++ is too much for what it is.
