Yeah yeah, I know there is 15 quadrabillion threads for this but I'm looking for a solution to my seemingly unique and maybe easy to fix problem.
2004 FX4 Supercrew
- 4x4 switch and slights on dash work (low-hi)
- T-case drops gear in low set like it should
- IWE(?) Solenoid, vaccuum, and all relays and fuses work correctly
- Tried tapping the T-case motor just for good measure
- No codes
I found out the hard/fun way that it didn't work trying to pull out a buddy and nothing engaged even though indicated.
The truck was my mom's before she gave it to me as a College grad gift. She used it 99.99% street. So needless to say, if she were to use 4x4, there would be a **** ton of flying pigs.
Given that, I'm goin on a hunch that something is clogged up somewhere or just plain broke.
If the T-case is engaging and the lights are coming on but the wheels are not engaging i would follow the vacuum testing of the IWE system in the thread called "Everything you wanted to know about the IWE system and then some" You might have a IWE actuator or both seized up or clogged vacuum lines, or the IWE solenoid might not be working correctly (even though you said it was, i dont know how you tested it) You need a good vacuum guage and some time to test everything. (under $100) you might find it an easy fix, or you might need some new parts. Some vacuum investigation is in order though.
Thanks,
I had somebody under the hood while i engaged and disengaged 4x4 to listen for solenoids and such. I electrically tested the IWE as well as you could hear hissing when unplugging lines. But, although im nearly positive i have a blocked line or some crud holding something back
