Fuel/water drain
Fuel/water drain
Need some help on this one.
I have an 05 KR with the 6.0, went out this AM to drain my fuel pump of any water.
I cannot find the lever or the drain as shown on the owners manual. I can't find anything that even looks like it could be a drain on the pump.
Hope someone can help me on this as I am getting ready to hit the road with my RV and would sure like to know how to drain the water in case I get some bad diesel.
Thanks,
Joe D

You can't see it too well in this pic, but behind the fuel heater wire harness (which is no longer used) is a plug that accepts an allen wrench...that's the water in fuel drain.
You can see the inside of that plug in the bottom picture.

To expand on what Steve gave you, many of the owners manuals incorrectly showed a lever, so that is why it doesn't look correct to you.
You will need a 6mm allen wrench, and if it has not been opened regularly, a bit of luck helps too.

Not to hijack this thread, but has anyone done a replacement on the fuel/water sensor ? My "water in fuel" light keeps coming on, even though I've done the entire process of draining the module and replacing the fuel filter. It'll be off for the first 5 minutes or so of driving, and then come on.

In my 25 years of driving diesels in California, I yet have to see a drop of water in the fuel.
I know other states with high condensations might have it, but per my experience the water draining is overrated.

Not Ford, but Ed the parts guy has them on his site.
Not the case here in Tennessee. The dealership drained it when I bought the truck, then I saw it about 4000 miles later. I just drain it each time I do an oil change, and have not seen it since.
Lots cheaper at the International dealer.......
