I hate to ster it up even more but I am pretty sure a 10.5 ring and pinion will fit into a 10.25. You just have to use the 10.5 pininon bearing set and BOTH the ring and pinion. I am 90% sure on this. I bought a 3.73 10.5 gear set to do the same to my truck but haven't done it yet. I know I did a lot of research on this to make sure.
Now for the dana 50 front, I believe the TTB is reverse rotation and the solid is standard rotation. I could be wrong here tho unfortunately. I know it is this way for sure with the older dana 60s and the newwer 60s under the superduties.
What do you guys think about these's sites? I've read 95% of each one so far. The first one has some questionable info. We have full-floating axles, right?
You all may think I crazy, but I'm seriously considering buying all the tools and learning how to completely rebuild and work on differentials along with a friend. I'm always a sucker for the challenging stuff.
So, how much business would I get from this site alone? LOL

I have never delt with either of them.
The housing are the same. They have the same diff cover from the first 10.25 until the current 10.50.
It will be a while before I get the swap done. I have to get a set for my dana 60 too and just don't have the funds now.
I have almost 100% that you can do it. I looked and read for a long time before I bought the gears and I wouldn't have bought them if I was almost sure. The only reason I am not 100% is because I haven't done it myself. You just need the 10.50 bearings when using those gears.
I see. I sorta did the same thing and bought a set of 3.55's for a D60, but they were standard and my front is hight pinion (reverse rotation). Shoulda done some more reading first.. D'oh!

I have 3.55 now and I wouldn't recomend them. I went from 4.10 to 3.55 with my d60 swap and don't like it. There was no MPG change either. I might even go back to 4.10 and just skip the 3.73s.
I'm pretty set on 3.73's.
I am happy I kept reading on this subject. I really want to do this myself now. I just like these things I guess.
Also I am glad to see some support for the one website.

I still have a lot of reading to do, though!
Please report back on the 3.73s. I am interested in doing the swap. Like I said I already have the rear just need a high pinion d60 front. Maybe call up that website and see what they have to say about capatability.
You might have to wait until the end of summer, unfortunately.
I'm am trying to pay this truck off first, then this computer, then getting married and trying to buy a house.
So, it could be awhile.
