Hmmm, I'm DEFINITELY gonna try that... if the pump comes out postitive, then I'll do the CPS. $25 isn't TOO bad. Thanks for the help... what's the normal fuel pressure anyways (in PSI)?
Ok, I'll fool with that. Would an injector or the HPOP cause this? I'm just trying to understand what's up with the crappy mileage I'm getting? I did REALLY good last summer. Now, I can't get outta the 12's and 13's! I would imagine it's all related. Oh, my fuel filter is overdue. 5000 to 10,000 miles. I didn't get to it last service (I didn't think... I'm still transitioning from THEM having it and ME having it). Would that cause the problem?
My vote is to start with the CPS to rule it out as a culprit!

You can plumb in a fuel pressure gauge on the back side of the fuel bowl and watch your fuel pressure yourself cheaper than a dealer will test it for you. Another simple test would be to pull the fuel line off the back side of the fuel pump, plug the line coming from the tank, and get you a small piece of hose. Stick the short hose on the back of the fuel pump and stick the other end in a fresh 5 gallon container of diesel. If the chirping goes away, it's time to drop your tank.
Well I would say its up to you. I had the part number and bought mine on line. Ebay as a matter of fact. Original part number in the original ford shipping plastic. Can't recall the cost but it was minimal...
I just checked Advanced and they carry it... and according to the site, it's in stock at my local store. I have to get my heater core bypass valve from them tomorrow so I'll grab my CPS then.
Well, I bought it... but then I took it back. I've got a few things I wanna try first. I know my fuel filter is WAY overdue, but I was hoping to push it to my next service (1000 more miles). Also, I had the "Water in Fuel" light go off on Sunday... so, I think I need to check some other stuff before I drop the money. I've also got a strange oil leak... it wasn't there last week so I'm a little worried. Then all this starts happening... I wonder what I did? I think I should've left the Superchips off the truck!
