So are there TWO 5th wheel hitch options if you go for the factory option? Or am I misunderstanding. Just want to make sure I get the right hitch (25k) when I order.
I believe the 25K is the only hitch offered by Ford through their dealerships, I had mine ordered through the dealership and it was on hand when my truck came in. They put it together and mounted it to the bed package all for around $1,330.
Reese offers a 16K Elite that will bolt right in as well but the best price I could find was just under the price for the installed 25K so for me it was a no brainer.
I paid just about the same for the hitch here in Canada. Also, ordered the gooseneck kit for $250.00 Cdn. I posted a concern about the fifth wheel hitch here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post9330664 the nice thing about ordering from Ford is that these items carry Ford warranty. I called Ford and Reese about the banging of this hitch running empty. My last hitch was a B&W companion and it had a shock that contolled side to side movement.
I have the short bed truck. When I had the B&W Turnover ball hitch installed the tech had to do a few things different than the 2010 and earlier trucks. This was done at a shop that does a ton of hitch installs.
I did the same for my truck rickatic, B&W hideway hitch and the B&W 5th wheel table and gooseneck and it works nice.
I recently took delivery of my 2011 F-350 Crew Cab Dually with the Factory "Fifth Wheel Prep Package". I found these forums very helpful as my dealer couldn't offer much help with what hitches fit this package. After reading this forum, I called American RV Company in Azuza, Ca (626 513-4777) to order a Reese Signature 25K hitch as mentioned in this forum...his price was $1,099 incl free shipping. When I asked to also order the #58419 Service Kit Adapter Foot, he told me I wouldn't need it. He said "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but Reese has superceded the Signature Series Hitch (they are now obsolete) with the new Elite models....if you order the Signature model for $1099 they will send you the new Elite Model for the same price. Or, if you'd just like to order the Elite model ,it will be about $1650." I took him at his word....the hitch arrived today and sure enough, is the Elite 25K!! Pretty good deal. From the time I ordered the hitch to when it was delivered here in AZ was three days. Check these guys out, they are straight shooters!
Can you tell me where the official ford hitch locates the center of the 5er pin versus the center of the rear axle? I have a 3rd party adapter to fit my old air hitch to the factory hitch prep and it results in the center of the 5er pin being just a bit behind the center of the rear axle. The reason I ask is that I think this location results in more sag than if it was located further forward. Knowing where your "factory" setup puts the pin would help a lot. Photos would help, but an eyeball opinion of where yours is -on center, an inch forward, 2 inches behind, etc would be fine. Thanks in advance,
John D, I don't have the hitch installed in the bed yet, but based on eyeballing it, it looks like the center of the pin will be about 2" ahead of the axle. Wayne
I am getting pushback from my adapter folks. When you do get it installed can you post again. Pin's relationship to the gooseneck hole might be easier to eyeball once hitch is in. Again many thanks.
That is not entirely correct. On 3/9 I bought a 2011 F-350,4x4,CC,6.7L,156" WB,King Ranch,11300# GVWR pkg,3.31 axel ratio and it came with the 5th wheel hitch prep pkg as a $370.00 adder. Bought it at Alexander Ford in Yuma, AZ. Trade in was 08 F450,4x4,CC,DRW LB,6.4L,King Ranch,4.88 axel ratio.
