C'mon, man. Cut me some slack. Hell, I got the truck running after it had been sitting for 5 years. That is a huge accomplishment in itself for a newb like me.

Slack granted, but it is still funny, and don't feel bad we all have those days!
I think the worst story I had ever heard of was a guy whose carburetor mounting bolts were loose, so the carburetor wasn't tight against the manifold. Instead of tightening them, he kept a sock full of pennies on the air cleaner to hold the carburetor down when the hood was shut.
Sorry to pull this further off topic...glad the problem is fixed though.
lol, went and looked at a 79 bronco a couple days ago and they had a rock sitting behind the brake pedal to keep the brake lights off
Got a penny taped to the plate behind my brake light switch to keep it off Just a bit of extra clearance that an adjustment won't correct.
Also have one taped under my 93 Civic. The plate under that one has a $0.50 plastic plug in the plate that the switch presses against...it cracked and came out, so the switch wasn't contacting anything. Figured it out after changing the switch (that limited space down there is a back-breaker!) and googling it to see that it's a common problem.
