all,
according to the dealer ship the turbo/intake manifold / EGR valve is built up with carbon deposits. They say to run the truck on the highway and try to burn it up. Is there some type of additive to add or does anyone have some adivce to clean the components. Ford says the process is about 2k +.
to repair it correctly will require cleaning the intake off the engine.
you can try pm22 fuel additive from ford.
this concern is mostly casued by:
1 poor fuel quality
2 high idle times
3 lack of maintance
what would cause high idle times? Do you mean leaving the truck idling for along period? Also, I pretty much take care of maintenance. I change the oil every 3 to 5k miles, replace air filter as needed, and I am about to change the FICM / Fuel filter. I also run Stanadyne fuel additive almost every other fill up. I dont run my truck every day because I have a commuter car for work. The dealer wants around $2k to do the cleaning and suggested to run the truck. The ICP sensor / pigtail has been replaced due to P2258 code. I wanted to change the EGR valve but they suggested runnng the truck.
